Columbia and Cicadas

The three of us took a trip to Columbia last weekend. Our first event of the weekend was to go visit some of our dear friends. Julian and Rory are so grown up and played so well with Will.

After that we did a whole lot of cooking and hanging out with my family. We had to speak loudly when we were outside, though since the cicadas were out! Every 13 or 17 years these bugs come out from underground to mate. They only live for a day- but MAN is that day noisy! The season is usually about two weeks long and we caught it at just the right time. Will had a blast with these hundreds- no wait- thousands of bugs all over.

As if that little bit of nature wasn't enough fun, there were several rabbits running around Gamma and Pappa's yard. Will wanted to sneak up on them and "hold it."

When we were about 20 feet away Will commented that the rabbit was eating grass. He bent down and pulled two handfuls of grass and threw it in the air saying, "here rabbit!"

There was also a turtle running around! What a zoo!

Running around the splash pad with Papa (my dad is SUCH a kid around Will and I LOVE it!)

Will is certainly all boy. Rocks ALWAYS are interesting to him, especially when they can be thrown in a lake!

Steven has finished up school and has nailed down his first job starting later this month! He has worked so very hard the last few years and it has now payed off. We're so proud of him! Will presented his graduation gift to him: Apple tv!

Steven was showing Laura all around Columbia during the weekend. One of the Columbia "must-haves" is Yogo Love, a self serve yogurt shoppe. We all went for a delicious treat and sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. And, of course, the cicadas!

Thanks for a super fun weekend!
