Crystal Bridges

Wow… it’s here. For the 5 years we’ve lives here we have heard about the American art museum that is the “baby” of Alice Walton (Sam’s daughter). We’ve seen this picture for years and dreamed of the day when we would have a major museum in our own backyard.

So on Wednesday, November 9 Dave and I had one of the best dates ever. We went for sushi before and went to the museum around 6:30. We were truly just giggling as the shuttle bus drove us down to the entrance. Here are some shots of the galleries:

These are the 2 bridges. The one on the left houses some art and the one on the right is a restaurant.

   

Inside the bridge with the art; there is a room inside the bridge so the art can’t be seen from the outside.

This piece was assembled on site by Devorah Sperber. It was created with over 20,000 spools of thread and when you view if through a acrylic ball you see an image of DaVinci’s Last Super. It was crazy amazing.

           

         

          

I am already returning tomorrow and with Dave again on the 11th. We will surely spend countless date nights here. We are very thankful to have such an unbelievable gift right down the road that is something our whole family can love, learn, and enjoy. And as an added bonus- it’s free! So whenever you come down to visit us you can bet we’ll be showing you around here!
